SMBus Controller

My Desktop with XP Pro has started to show on start up that I have new hardware - viz
"SM Bus Controller"
and wishes to install the software.
What is it and how can I find the driver?
I have looked in Intel and on Driver guide and in the windows help and there is no mention of SM Bus Controller.

Did you get a CD with your computer with all the drivers for the motherboard? The SM Bus contoller driver will be on there.

There will be diferent driver for different chipsets.

We need to Know the maake of your PC and the chipset if possible to find the correct driver.

Intel then click here

I have run the Intel Chipset ID Utility and it does not recognise it.
I have run the SiSoft Sandra Utility and it says it is a P4 2.53 ; SiS645DX running at 1933MHz

What make of PC? --- Dell? Gateway? Packard Bell? Medion? IBM?

If you haven't got the original CD
Belarc advisor click here
will do an inventory of your PC and tell you make and model no of your system board

Go on the makers web site and look for the drivers for the sis645dx chipset there.
