hi,
my mate has a sm h/d 8gb
with a 250gb external, his 8gb gets full quick, even though he has most of his prog on the ex,
can the external be used to boot up the system and just use it,or would they have to be two xp opp system one each one,and once booted from 8gb,then just use the other one?or would the likes of aol.internet only reconise the 8gb?

He can only use the external drive to boot from if his motherboard supports booting from external devices, his motherboard would need to be fairly new to allow that.

If I was in your mate's position I'd replace the 8Gb internal drive with a 40Gb one, keep the programs on the internal one, and data on the external.
