I've been having a problem with slow texture loading over a range of games for the past few months now and I'm really struggling to isolate what's causing this issue.
The issue happened extensively in Prepar3D (flight simulator) where the ground textures would load slowly, especially over hills. I've had a friend with a lower spec system fly over the same area and he wouldn't have this issue. I've resinstalled the game a few times, tried low, medium and high settings, Nvidia Inspector settings on and off and I can't get anything to change.
I was starting to think that it was just an issue contained to one game however I loaded up a Vanilla WoW server yesterday and I'm having exactly the same issue. Texture on hills is slow to load and the terrain will change the closer I get to it. Now for sure, when I played the game a few years ago I didn't have this issue and again I got the same friend to test it who had no issue. Again tested with ultra low, low, medium and high settings with the same effect.
I upgraded my system around a year ago and I now have:
2x 8GB DDR4 2400 RAM 250GB SSD with OS and Games installed Z170 Motherboard i7 6700k overclocked to 4600MHz Nvidia MSI GTX960 4GB
I've tried reformatting a few times, even tried going back to Windows 7 from Windows 10 but nothing has solved the issue.
Does anyone have any ideas what this might be? If it helps I can post a video of what I experience in WoW.
I think I've now potentially ruled out a software issue so I'm leaning more towards it's a hardware issue somewhere. Would this indicate a graphics card problem? Even perhaps a Power Supply issue / not enough power?
Would be interested to hear any ideas.
