Slow Shutdown for Windows XP

  rklalli 15:51 02 Feb 2005

I have noticed that my laptop is taking longer to shut down than before. I have ran virus checks, use CWShredder, HijackThis, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware to clean regularly. I have defragged the drive and cleaned up unneccesary files.

Any other ideas???

Have a look at this click here There's a link in the left pane for WinXP.

Also, you can speed up the closing of WinXP. Run regedit and navigate to registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet and click on the Control folder.

Look for WaitToKillServiceTimeout, right click it and choose Modify. Change it to something less, say, 1000.
