Size of Avi captured video

  geedad 11:13 06 Jan 2010

I have just captured an .avi video from my TV.
It was a mere 70 seconds or so, and I was therefore amazed at the subsequent size of the video!
It came out at 1.53GB!
I can't believe that it takes up so much space!
Is there any way to reduce the size without losing any quality for eventual authoring to DVD?

Kworld DVB-T USB DVD Maker.
Cyberlink Software, PowerProducer and PowerDirector. Came with gadget.

Thanks all,

AVI is the best quality and therefore the largest. You can use DVD Flick to convert and burn click here

Do you have any options in your capture software to capture as mpeg2, this is about the 3 GBs an hour region, or dv-avi about 13GB an hour.

Thank you. I will give that a try!
Thank you,also.
Yes, there is, I believe, that option, and I will change the option to that and see what happens.
In both instances, I will let you know the outcome.
Thanks again to you both!

Results are fine after using mpeg2 option.
Thanks both!
