Simple website but need new ideas

I'm doing a simplish website for a club. Typically a club has fixtures, calendar of events, etc. For this to be useful one would provide some sort of content management. For a simple site is there a way of providing these offsite (in a web2 way?!) by setting up a link to say a google calendar facility for example. There may be other ideas in this context for a site like this. Any ideas welcome. I just wondered if this would be common way (used by professional designers) of providing a more complex site?

Thanks for your time.

joomla click here then you could add modules such as a calendar facility

I was trying to avoid using Joomla! for a simple site so was asking if there was a way round.

How about Mambo? I regularly use this.
Or how about Wordpress?
