Shutdown WinXP

I recently purchased a new DVD-RW which windows picked up on reboot. I then went to the Pioneer website for the latest driver and my problems commenced after loading it. WidowsXP wouldn't boot it said that a progam had interfered with the OS. I then booted up in safe mode and did a system restore. Windows then booted ok and I thought that all was fine until I went to shut down. Nothing works it doesn't shutdown nor will it log off. Windows doesn't hang up it runs as normal it just will not shutdown. Can anyone please help?

Go to Device Manager and uninstall the driver, and try rebooting. If that doesn't work try a system file check go to Start/Run/type sfc /scannow (watch the space) pres Enter. You will need your XP CD.
