Should my Northbridge fan run all the time?

  Peter V 21:36 16 Sep 2003

I have just purchased a Gigabyte GA-7N400 PRO 2 motherboard with the Nforce2 chipset. The northbridge fan does not spin even after 4+ hours of power up. I have tested the fan off the board and it works fine. I called the Gigabyte UK helpdesk who said this is normal as the fan is thermo controlled. Is this correct? I am not convinced by this as other boards I have used have the northbridge running all the time.

Any help would be appreciated.

if you have a smart fan its rpm level will increase with the system temperature. this is not unusual
