shortcut to restart & shutdown

Is it possible to create a shortcut on your desktop to restart & shutdown your PC

(Win XP SP1)

Yes you can.

Create the shortcut as you would and when it asks to enter the location enter...

shutdown -s

For a time delay [count down to 30 seconds then it will shutdown]: shutdown -s -t 30

shutdown.exe -r

For a time delay [count down to 30 seconds then it will restart]: shutdown -r -t 30

No need for anything else, XP will sort it out for you.

s - shutdown

r - Restart

Start, Run, Type: cmd /k shutdown /?

Click OK for the possible switches.
