Shortage of memory

  [email protected] 19:41 21 Oct 2004

I have Win98SE,IE6 and 512MB DDR RAM.When I try to open a Word document I am told there is not enough memory to do so.How do I find out how much memory I have available and what would it be best to uninstall to free more memory. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Search for the file NORMAL.DOT

You may need to enable searching for hidden files and folders to find it.

Rename it to ABNORMAL.DOT and try starting Word.

i find that i have to use both of those, aswell as -- Lavasoft-Adaware, Webroot's spysweeper, and escanAV, youl be surprised each one finds ad/spy/trojans etc that the other one misses.
and even then they still miss some, i have a problem myself, i know its there, i can see its folder and contents, but all of the above, as well as Grisoft's AVG free have completly missed it.

so it pays to have a selection!
