Sharing Broadband - Home network

Wonder if you can help me.

I currently have a friend with two fairly modern PCs (a few months old) in two different rooms of his house (one in his bedroom and one downstairs).

The PC downstairs currently runs broadband (128kbps), and he wants to share his connection with the upstairs PC.

How would he go about setting this up? I am assuming he will either have to set up a home network (will wireless work?) of some sort, and may have to buy a router - any advice would be much appreciated.

Also, how much would this cost to get up and running - is it possible to set up for under a hundred pounds?

Thanks in advance,
