Shared Internet - will not connect

We have a wireless network with a trendnet router. This can share files and printers fine, but won't share the internet. It wants to have the modem plugged into it driectly, but our speedtouch modem only has a usb connection. An 'internet gateway' appears in the client pc's network connection, but it says 'connection failed' when we enable it.
Ideas?

You wil proberbly have to get a modem/router combination

will only accept an Ethernet modem. Either buy one of those or, and preferably, buy a combined ADSL modem/router.
