Settings for cdrw

  Bonzy 16:55 15 Dec 2003

I want to try additional settings on my cdrw but I'm not too sure what'll happen.
When I go to Device Manager, select the cdrw, click Properties and go to the settings tab, I see "Disconnect" and "Auto Insert Notification" activated which I know is ok. But is it ok for me to activate DMA in addition?
What about the hdd; is it ok to activate DMA?
Thanks in advance, folks.

Hi Bonzy. Usually DMA is a good thing to activate. It enables data to transfer to and from the drive without having to go through the processor, and so makes things run a lot faster. If activating DMA gives problems, you can always deactivate it again.

Resolved. Thanx a million, Gongoozler.

If you have a rewriter (Master) and a CD or DVD-ROM drive (Slave) and use Nero burning software, it's best to disable Auto Insert Notification as Nero controls the operation of both drives.
