setting up broadband on a different broadband line

I have had to restore my father-in-laws pc to its original factory settings. I have his pc at my house. I use tiscali broadband for my connection. My f-i-l has an account with TalkTalk broadband. I have his modem and installation software. I want to know if it is possible install his modem and set up his connection for the internet on my broadband equipped line? i cannot easily set up the internet connection from his line as he lives 280 miles away!

No as the line at your house is set up for Tiscali and not TalkTalk.

You might be able to set up the software and enter the settings but you won't get a connection.

Hi, I don't really know, but I think it is doubtfull. Just suggesting that the best people to ask would be TalkTalk or Tiscali after explaining the circumstances.

Or perhaps if you put this question in the Networking Forum, someone there might know better.

Good luck.
