Seperate wifi for gaming and general use HELP

  skyemann 02:43 31 Aug 2013

Our household contains one online gamer who uses most of the bandwidth and complains whenever anyone else accesses the wifi.

We basically would like to know the best way to have him using the current wifi access and the best way for the rest of us to have a separate wifi (with its own download speed, limits etc).

is it a matter of getting a new router and phone line?

any advise appreciated!

some reading click here gamer may be better connected by cable and leave the wifi to everyone else.

You are correct when you say the only way everyone is going to be happy with bandwidth is to have a dedicated line (with separate BB and router) for your gamer

Fruit Bat /\0/\'s is probably the right way to go. But if your gamer is anything like our gamer, having the gamer use cable while everyone else uses wi-fi will only ease things 'this side' of the router. He may still find that, if, for example, someone else is streaming video or downloading large files, his gaming will lag because he's still sharing bandwidth 'the other side' of the router. Ultimately, yes, only separate lines/routers would really solve the problem.
