sending documents from windows vista to windows xp

Please can someone help me. I am secretary to a committee and send all agenda papers by e-mail. However, since having my new computer which is windows vista and microsoft ofice word 97, noone can open them, as they all have windows XP. What can I do to resolve this problem?

I suspect the problem is not Vista versus XP, but the fact that you're using Office 2007 (surely not Office '97?) which saves by default as .DOCX files.

Make sure that you "Save as..." any documents in .DOC format as used by earlier versions of Word.
