security update won't install.

  charlton200 10:30 16 Feb 2010

Every time I go to shut down it says I have a security update to download. This is every time I shutdown.
I went to microsoft download page to check and it's the same item that failing to download as it's got failed to loads of them.
The failed download is:
Security Update for Microsoft Office XP (KB977896)

Any idea how to download this update or stop it from slowing my shutdown with an update that fails every time.

Thank you.

Rather than use MS update, try downloading it direct from here and then if download Ok, install it. Worth a try. click here

Do you have office set to run at startup?

PS...Other option is to go into MS update and hide the update so that it is never available for download.

looks like an update for Microsoft Office.
If you do not want to see it again run a manual update and when it shows click on it and another box should open tick do not show this update again.
