I have bought a copy of Norton Ghost and a second hard drive for my machine, that I intend to use for full system backups.

I have some experience of installing a hard drive, and I am OK on the hardware installation. But I could do with a reminder on how to answer the various questions that FDISK will ask me.

Could anyone give me the correct procedure please?

First I would advise temporarily disconnection of existing hard drive in case of inadvertant FDISK of wrong disc.

Boot to start up floppy

FDisk - yes for large disk support - create DOS partition - use full disc for partition. Restart Format

Then reconnect old disc

Happy ghosting it is a fantastic programme.

Most HDD manufacturers have made available for download formatting utilities which makes for user-friendly, easy Maxtor have Maxblast, etc.
