second hard drive

going to be fitting a 2nd hard drive need an idiots guide i have fitted and reformatted single drives before but not a 2nd one

Basically the same as fitting the main hard drive but if you fit it on the same ribbon you will have to check that the jumper is set to slave. Should you be attaching it to the secondary ribbon, again you have to set the jumpers to align with anyother devices on it - on it's own it will be jumper to master if there is a CD/DVD on it already then you can set it to slave but it may be more prudent to set it as master and the other device down to slave.

On boot up your PC should detect the new drive, you can then do the Fdisk setup if required or if it is pre-formatted you should be able to utilise the drive straight away.

Normally C:\ or E:\

If its faster make it the master

ie a HD should never be a slave to a CD
