  Mr "B" 22:09 09 Dec 2008

Hi, ive just purchased a sony laptop and when i search the net the pc is set to use sonys own search which to be honest i think is rubbish even though it says its powered by google.
Can anyone advise me on how i can change it so when i enter random stuff in the toolbar at the top it brings up search engine which i personally find is alot better and what i'm used to. Thanks for any advice recieved.

Download the google toolbar.

You could go to programmes and features(assuming it's Vista) and uninstall the Sony toolbar from there.
Then you could install the google toolbar.
Alternatively, you could set Google as your homepage.

In IE - go to Tools - Internet Options.

Look down the window that opens for Search and click the Settings button. Select the default search engine - browse for more if you need to.
