Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me what is the best screen refresh rate and does it really matter. The reason I am asking is I uave been told by a friend that for optimum clarity I should set my refresh rate to 75 hertz. I have a 17" monitor don't know make but model number is VC 170 (brand new came with computor)o/s is win xp home, screen resolution is set at 1024 by 768 and colour quality is highest (32 bit). I hope that is enough info.

Any advice will be much appreciated by my tired old eyes

Use the best that your monitor allows.

Exceding the max refresh that the monitor allows may damage the monitor.

75Hz is about as low as you should go to reduce flicker.

Below 75Hz and you may find it hard on your eyes after a short time

I would think that a new monitor would go up to 85Hz at 1024x768

32 bit is fine
