Scanner problem

My computer crashed a couple of weeks ago. I had to set it to factory settings and it has been running fine. I of course had to re-install all my hardware, but I now find that my scanner is not working.

My husband checked that all the cables are connected but when I try to use the scanner I get a message sayingscanner not found.

I am running Windows XP and my scanner is Visioneer Paperport.

Any suggestions please?

I assume it is a usb connected scanner and that all other usb devices work ok. Remove the usb cable and reboot pc. Some usb scanners require that the software is installed before the scanner is connected to the pc. Install the visioneer software and then plug in the scanner.

Thanks, I tried that and everything is working okay now.
