scanner networking

i have two computers networked both xp pro, i also have a epson 1200u scanner,does anybody know of some software that i can use to make the scanner available on my network, pref freebie.

I don't think that it's possible. I could suggest that you install your scanner software on the client PC, and then browse to the network location. Don't know if that works, haven't tried it myself, but you never know. Just a suggestion mind!

looked at those but they want 35$ i wont be doing that many scans so i will leave it for now and see how it goes, thanks for your help.

assuming your scanner is usb, the solution is a usb switch. belkin make good ones. don't be confused with a usb hub.

you can get networkable scanners but they cost more.

having said that, i have an old hp scanner that is networkable, even via wireless.
