ScanDisk or Defrag first

  TommyRed 19:55 11 Jul 2003

I seem to remember somewhere on this forum someone discussing what order to do these in. Please remind me, cheers.

scandisk first to correct any probs with drive, then defrag to reorder files

Run Scandisk first.

When you run Defrag, it does a 'mini scandisk' first - if there are any problems detected, it will prompt you to run (the 'full') Scandisk before it begins the Defrag.

So, check for errors first, then Defrag will not need to prompt you to run Scandisk :)
