Saving files

Have a friends computer running W2K.
He is interested in music and has an elderly programme called "Music Time Deluxe"

Among its files it has .mus type.

He opens these files with no trouble. Alters them and then wants to save the alteration.

He gets a message that "The disc cannot be written to"

This occurs on all internal hard discs and external flash memory.

All discs are Fat32. Have reformatted to NTFS with no success in saving.

When the programme is installed onto my W2k machine I have no trouble saving the files to NTFS.

Does anyone have any ideas as to where to start looking?
Or an alternative programme that allow music notation and playing such and then saving in notation form

Regards Brian

check the properties of each file it appears to stuck on read only you need to change it to save.

thanks for your reply. Did not think of that.!!!

However, on investigation the sample files are all listed as archive.

|Have even copied across the sample files from other machines, still no go.

I am beginning to think that there must be a conflict with other music progs on the machine. Will take them all off and start again.

Works OK on another 4 machines each with W2k.

Thanks anyway.

-I think - At least it works now.

After much work resolved the matter by re installing W2k. Carefully trying the prog after each addition of programmes.

It turns out that there seemed to be a conflict with MS Publisher, an older offering, they do not appear to work together.
