hey guys, i currently have an assrock mobo with a amd 2700xp with two ide harddrives.

I am thinking about upgrading to the amd 64 3xxx, however most good boards that can take this chip uses the sata interface.

apart from the new chip and mobo, what else would i need to make my harddrives work with a sata board.

Hello - The asus K8V deluxe is a good mobo, has both SATA, RAID and IDE. I have SATA/RAID0 and the primary IDE is vacant, with the burners on the secondary. Be aware that the new 64 Athlons are out, these have 939 pins instead of 754. It appears that the AMD 64-3700 will be the last of the mohicans so to speak. If you are not bothered about future upgradability then you have a choice of 3 CPUs to fit the asus.
