Samsung NC10 Blank (Black) Screen

Hi my sons Samsung NC10 wont show any thing on the monitor
I have the NC10 now and the monitor remains blank after booting it. (Black)

I tried a different external monitor and it remained blank.
I have taken the back off the NC10 and all seems to be connected.

The power on light lights up it will charge the battery and the HD flashes once then goes out I can hear the HD spinning. The USB work on the External CD DVD player.

The fan does not come on to cool the CPU on Boot up or after its been left on for 10 minuets.
I am not sure if the fan should come on at boot or when it reaches a certain temperature.

I have goggled for help but now I am in need of assistance or suggestions.
No option in trying to get into Bios and I have tried Safe mode.

"I tried a different external monitor and it remained blank."

You did use the required key combination to change from LCD to external screen?

Pull hdd and see if it boots to an error message, also try reseating the memory.

Could be
not booting
graphics chip failed

Thanks Fruit Bat /\0/\
I didn’t try the key, which is FN F4 together, as I didn’t know about them until I did a goggle after your comment.
So I booted up hit FN/F4 and hey presto the NC10 booted up as did the external monitor.
I am now wondering if these two buttons were touched on closing down the last time it was used.
I am very grateful for your advice, as my son will be thanks again.
