Sagem [email protected] Modem

Sometimes when I try to connect my broadband, I get a variety of error messages. On investigation I find that the ADSL monitor is not in the system tray. The most common message says that the USB is disconnected. However when I click on the remove hardware icon in the system tray it is listed. To the cure the fault I click disconnect hardware, unplug the USB cable and re-connect. Most of the time this does the trick. Any ideas or will I have to live with this. I have no other problem USB devices. I believe there is a problem with VIA USB controlers but I may be talking nonsense. In any case that is irrelevant because I do not have those controlers. I only mention it in case anyone thought to suggest it as a fault. Running XP Home.
