Running a diagnostic tool on a hard drive

  Bailey08787 10:37 28 Feb 2007

I have a hard drive which is faulty and which I wish to return to the manufacturers.

Before they will issue me with an returns number, they want me to run a diagnostic tool.

I'd be happy to do this, but their diagnostic tool won't run on the following chipsets:

PowerMax v 4.21 will not detect ATA or SATA hard disks connected to embedded or add in RAID controllers, NVIDIA Force 3, Force 4, VIA KT 600 and KT800 chipsets.

I'm in Force 4. I do not know of anyone with a pc that isn't on Force 4.

I don't want to incur the expense of taking it into a repair shop.

Any ideas?

(It's a Maxtor drive)

thanks recap

I'll give it a go

It says in the notes that v4.22 won't work on nforce 4 chipsets, but it doesn't say anything about v4.23

and as this is v4.23, i'll give it a go
