Router web interface connect problem

I have installed a second router a Linksys in piggy back on my main router with vpn it is a DD-wrt. what I cant do is access it's web interface to set the securty which I forgot to do on the initial setup. each time I enter the routers IP it reports unable to connect.

Are you connecting with an Ethernet Cable? Sounds like you are trying to use a wireless connection.

Ok in total frustration, I will try and access the vpn router via my laptop after removing it from it's piggy back config, what cable goes where? thanks
