Reverting to XPSP1 from XPSP2

I want to revert to XPSP1 from 2 to restablish the original identity of my computer so that I can reload Offic 97 complete with its Access.

1. Is it possible?
2. I have an 80GB drive to mirror my current programs and data (excluding the Office 97 suite which I will uninstall from the current XPSP2 format)
3. I have the original Windows XPSP1 disk.

What routine should I use if it is possible.

Go to "control panel/add/remove programs" - remove "windows xp service pack 2" - it takes a considerable length of time.

Are you sure you need to remove sp2 to reinstall Office 97? It doesn't cause any conflicts with Office 2003.

A sledgehammer to crack a nut. I have run 97 on SP2 for ages with no problem.

Tell us the problem and we may be able to solve it.

as others have said, so why do you need to uninstall SP2?

Iwould be reluctant to revert back to SP1 because SP2 closed quite a few security holes
