Hi Folks, seasons greetings,

Seen that you can put a shortcut on the desktop to shut down win 98.

Anyone know how to put one there to restart the PC?

Cheers, Epirb.

to restart windows, create a shortcut on you desktop and type:
C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE shell32,SHExitWindowsEx 2

or copy and paste it, as it needs to be identical big and little letters

Restart Windows Without Restarting Your Computer

You can restart Windows but not you computer by pressing Shift as you press OK in the Shutdown window. A more permanent solution:
1.make a new text file, and in it type "@exit" , one line, no quotes.
2.Call it whatever you want, but it must have a .bat extension.
3.Make a shortcut to it called "Restart Windows" on your desktop.
4.Right-click, go to Properties. In the Program tab, check "Close on Exit".
5.Click Advanced, then select "MS-DOS" mode, make sure "warn before entering MS-DOS mode" is off.
Use by double-clicking.
