I have a Packard Bell Imedia4605, but the hard drive has crashed, and need a identical replacement, WD200 Enhanced IDA Hard Drive,Drive Parameters LBA 39102336. 20GB.P/N :WD200AB-22CMBO.Can anyone help me to locate a replacement?
Very hard (and expensive) to get hold to 20G drives why do you need an exact replacement anyway?
In reply to Fruit Bat, the hard drive has to be the same in order to match the Motherboard I understand but I am open to ideas but it must be a 40 pin connection. and IDA not ATA
IDE and ATA are the same thing. (you may be confused with parallel ATA and serial ATA, normally referred to as SATA)You will currently be limited to 32gb capacity, but it may be possible to flash your bios to allow you to use drives up to 120gb.Even if you can't, you will be able to use a 40gb or bigger drive, then set a jumper on the back of the drive to limit the capacity to 32gb.
MAxtor do drive overlay software wich will allow you to use a bigger hard drive on an older machine.Have a look on the maxtor site
Many thanks to Fruit Bat and Allan14, I have obtained a replacement from MISCO.
