Replacement light for scanner.

  rockall 13:33 29 Apr 2010

Email I sent to Epson :- Epson Perfection 4490 Photo. Tried most of the numbers you give for replacement light tube but none can supply. What next. Regards.

Reply from Epson :- In reply to your e-mail, it would more than likely be more cost effective to replace the unit rather than replaceing the bulb. The latest model equivalent to this would be the EPSON Perfection V500. £220.

Sadly, it's a disposable world!

Have you spoken with the Epson Repair facility? click here

If so then it may be cheaper to replace with the same unit click here|countryGB&q=epson+perfection+4490+photo&revid=757260869&resnum=0&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=795435895697556681&ei=ooPZS5u2B47u0gSP7_RY&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CCMQ8wIwAw#ps-sellers

Had a chat with them and they say they are factory sealed units and dust will get in if I open it.I think I will buy a new one as I have been at this for a week and got nowhere.
Thanks for help.

I have just bought a Canonscan 8800f scanner for £160. Very pleased with it - does flatbed, 35mm slide and film, and 120 film.

Been looking at these as a change from Epson but have never seen one that cheap.

I got it a branch of The London Camera Exchange (in Hampshire). I did squeeze a bit as I am a regular customer.Had to download w7 64 bit drivers from Canon.
