Has anybody had to remove XP from their PC?

We would like to completly remove WIN XP from the system, and install another operating system.
Where do you start?

Re-start the PC and tap F1 to enter BIOS. At the C:\ prompt, type Format C: , press Enter. Answer the questions and hold onto your hat.

Make sure you have a boot disk before you start. Download one from click here

Be aware the CD ROM will become drive R.

download a windows 98 boot disk & make a start-up floppy disk with it, re-start your pc with the floppy disk in the drive, when you get the menu, choose option 1. when it has finished, type format c: (if c is the drive you wish to format) and press enter, then Y to accept and enter again.

this way your cd rom stays as drive D: or whatever it is now.

good luck

Djohn, ahh, but were you holding your hat?..looks like it could make a difference.

With regards to the question: It's not quite cut and dry, was there a previous operating system installed?

Thanks.
