Removing microSD card write protection.

  Daibus 20:09 18 Nov 2008

I've just bought a microSD card, but upon insertion into my mobile it does not seem to be recognized. I then inserted the card into my laptop, via the holder, where it was recognized but I was unable to drag any file onto it as a message again said that it is protected and unable to be written to.

I then tried to format the card but a protected message is again displayed.

What do I have to do to be able to use this microSD card?

Many thanks.

Most similar cards have a very tiny, almost invisible slide-switch to protect un-protect. See if yours has this.

PS - the switch, if yours has one, will be on the edge of the card.

Tiny switch on card adapter?

As ├četa says, the switch is on the edge of the Adapter, not the micro card itself!

Many thanks for your replies.

Released the lock on the adapter and all is well when inserted into my laptop but the microSD card is still not being recognized by my mobile.

I know that this may not be the right forum but after a browse on the net I see that there can be compatible issues with microSD cards. SanDisk is the manufacturer that seems to be recommended, but unfortunately this is not the make that I bought.

Any further information on these compatibility issues would be very helpful.

Cheers Beta.

HP iPaq 514 Voice Messenger mobile and the card I bought was a 2GB Transcend.

Thanks again.

I don't think that particular card is compatible with your phone.

Couldn't see it on this list ... click here
