Removing McAfee

My free subscription with McAfee is due to end soon. I have downloaded AVG and Comodo to replace it. To remove McAfee I will go to add remove programmes to get rid of McAfee and have downloaded the MCPR from the McAfee site to get rid of any traces. Is there anything else I need to do before installing the new programs?

In case it all goes pear shaped, how do I use system restore to back again (I believe I have system restore turned on).

Firstly do not use add and remove,as most Mcafee products that are installed will not be removed corrcetly and force you into a reinstall first.

Is this the tool you have,if so...it should do the job for you click here

Then run ccleaner click here

Using system restore click here

Yes that it the file I have downloaded from McAfee. I have ccleaner to clean up temp files, cookies, etc. Which bit of ccleaner do I need to use?

Thanks for the link to the system restore notes.

Use both at default settings, thats Cleaner and registry in ccleaner.

Dont forget to create a SR point first before any removal.

Just through I would post a quick update.

Used the McAfee removal tool and it un-installed fine. Now have the following

AVG Anti Virus
Comodo Firewall

Spywareblaster
Spybot S&D
Adaware

CCleaner

Spyware is a bit short.I think you need something a bit better.I would add A Squared or something like that.Just to be in the safe side.
