removing icon from desktop

A seemingly trivial problem, but one that nevertheless bugs me!!
I recently downloaded a game (Po Kung Fu Panda Challenge) for my son to play, but he soon tired of it, so I deleted it via the programs and functionality menu of the control panel. However the program icon is still on the desktop and I can't seem to get rid of it. I have Revo uninstaller on my PC, but because the game(application) has been successfully deleted, I don't think Revo can find the icon and remove it.
When I try to delete the icon with mouse right click, I get a message saying that it's impossible to find the element, and that it's no longer available in C:\Users|Public\Public Desktop. I'm asked to verify the location of the element and re-try. But the search function gives me no leads as to where the icon is now housed.
Any ideas?

Try loging off or a reboot.

Loging = logging. Too light on the key tapping..:(

Have you tried right clicking the icon and opening "Properties"?

It might give you a steer to the target of the so-called shortcut.

Try this program Florio.

I have used it for a few years and it ALWAYS deletes things that previously could not be deleted. I would be very surprised if it didn't get rid of it for you Florio.

Hi, it would be of great help to others perhaps in the future, if you could say ... How?
