refresh rates

I understand that the minimum refresh rate for a CRT is 60 Hz. What about flat screens? Or do they have a built in refresh rate?

TFT monitors normally have a refresh rate of 60MHz - however, a CRT monitor should be set with a minimum setting of 85MHz to ensure that there is no flickering (applies to probably 98.9 per cent of the population), which causes eye strain.

Higher than 85MHz is not normally necessary and, in any case, if set too high can cause other problems.

Go to Control Panel; Appearance and Themes; Display and click on Settings; Advanced; Monitor.

Have a look at your refresh rates.

My TFT auto set to 60 Hertz and I changed it to 75. It wouldn't accept higher than this.

Thanks everybody for clarifying that for me.
