reformatting - any way to back up itunes?

  Elvenator 21:09 02 Mar 2006

I'm thinking of reformatting my PC because I am having lots of trouble with spy/adware despite having antivirus software and numerous antispy/adware software. I had the same problem 2 years ago and had to do it then.
However I am now the proud owner of an Ipod and have many songs stored in my itunes software, which I do not want to lose.
Do you know if there is any way that I can back up my itunes so that I don't have to go throught that long laborious task of downloading all my music cd's again. I simply don't have time!
Also, I there any alternative to clean my pc without having to re format??

I'm not too teched up by the way. I'm a typical girl!

We, or our friends at the Malware Removal forum, can help you to clean your PC without having to reformat.

For a start, download Ewido Anti-Malware trial version click here

When installing, under 'Additional Options' untick 'Install background guard' and 'Install scan via context menu'.

Launch Ewido by double clicking the icon on your desktop. The program will now go to the main screen. You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files. On the left hand side of the main screen click update then click on Start Update.

Then select 'Settings'. Under the bottom section 'What to Scan?' make sure 'Scan every file' is ticked. Select 'OK' and you will return to scanning options. Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin. This scan can take quite a while to run.

While the scan is in progress, you will be prompted to clean the first infected file it finds. Choose 'Clean' (or 'Delete' if 'Clean' is not an option). Then put a tick next to 'Perform action on all infections'. Doing this enables the scan to proceed automatically until its completion. Click OK.

Under XP the files are usually held at C:\Documents and Settings\Your_user_name\My Documents\My Music\iTunes ( simply replace your_user_name with whatever it is ) You should then be able to back up the files in the normal way

Tried the eiwido anti malware and still I have spyware and adware warnings coming from my antivirus soft ware. It found over 250 malware files. But there is no option to delete them! My PC is incredibly slow. What do I do now. I guess re formatting is my only option.
