i have reformatted my hard drive due to a windows problem and when i put my windows 95 startup disk in it does not allow access to the cdrom drive to reinstall windows it says 'invalid drive specification' could you help

You will need to go into the BIOS laurie_datlen and alter the boot up sequence from floppy to CD.

You either have an LG CDROM not recognised by the universal driver or the floppy isn't a setup disc. Check which

when i alter is from floppy to cd it syas failed when trying to boot from it and goes straight to floppy

You could try click here and see if their generic CDROM drivers are up to the task.

i have just found out that windows 95 startup disk does not contain cdrom drivers how do i find the driver on my pc and add it to the startup disk

1. Use a win98 start up disc which will supply CDrom support. or

2. Go the whole hog if possible and install win98se rather than win95. or

3. Use a generic dos cd driver to get started win setup will rem this out during the setup process.
