recycle bin wont empty

  1911 19:43 03 Aug 2008

When I try to restore something from the recycle bin the computer freezes and I have to go to CTR/Alt/DEL to unfreeze it. I cannot empty bin either. Same result. Any Ideas?

Boot to a DOS prompt and type:

deltree c:\recycled
Answer 'yes' to the subsequent prompt

That will delete the recycle bin. It will be recreated on the next boot.

Typed is as directed, got " DELTREE IS NOT RECOGNISED AS A COMMAND" . is that the correct spelling?

try this

At the command prompt, type:
rd /s \recycler

Hi Mat Tried that one. This time got "CANNOT FIND FILE SPECIFIED" So it looks as if it would work ok if I can find the file name for the recycle bin.
