Recovery partition not found

Greetings folks,
Having psyched myself up to do a reinstall of Windows (XP) on my HP Pavilion (M7340.UK) I got the following msge; 'Recovery partition not found. No software available for reinstallation'. I went to 'My Computer' and the Recovery Disk is there ok. I clicked on the 'Recovery Disk' and got the msge; 'Windows cannot find Info.Exe' Can any of you oh-so-helpful people out there please explain the above to me. Please don't ask me what happened to my backup disks....oh..ok then, if you insist, I was doing some 'housekeeping' recently and accidentally destroyed 'em.... I must really get stronger tablets.....
Kind regards, Mike.
