recovery disk

this is awhat if question
i have an evesham pc so far everything is just fine,because of mistakes i made recently i had to use the recovery disk to reinstall xp no problem
with that it all went fine,
what i want to know is if my hd should decide to go belly up one day and i bought a new one would a recovery disk reinstall xp on a new hd
some say it will others say it will not can anyone tell me for sure.

My Evesham CD has been installed to 4 separate HDDs so far, with no problem.

The confusion probably arises because a 'recovery disk' is not a defined standard, and can vary from something that will only initiate a system restore from a hidden partition on a specific hard drive, to a full version of XP, to a full version with additional 'extras' from the system supplier. Evesham supply full versions of XP, to my knowledge.

I hasten to add that all four HDDs are mine, and were due to experimentation / testing. Only one version of XP was ever 'live', all on the same PC.
