recording music

Im a keen guitar player and i want to record some songs using the recorder on windows xp. The problem is, i want to be able to play along to the singing and not the actual music itself as ill be playing that... Is there any cheap software that will enable me to turn off the music and just hear the singing instead?.
Ive looked at Sony sound forge but out of my price range.

Have a look at Magix Studio 2005 De luxe (around £50
but if it looks the part Amazon or Ebay will no doubt be cheaper.

If you have a creative sound card you can record from that.
