Hi - I am running Win98SE on P111 500 327mb mem and 80GB HD. Today I switched on computer and boo-up got as far as DMI Pool Data and then displayed Type the name of the COMMAND INTERPRETER (eg., C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM)leaving a C:>prompt. Please can someone ease me in the right direction over this problem.

have you left a floppy disc in the drive?

If not then windows is looking for system files in the root directory of c: drive

If you have a rescue disk reboot with the rescue disk in the drive after its booted to c:\ type sys c:\ and press enter this should copy system files to the hrad disk then reboot without the floppy windows hopefuly will then boot ok.

Hi Fruit Bat - I had problem with a corrupted file on my C drive. Have now started from scratch with XP loaded on to my D drive and will now weed out unwanted progs and files from C and scandisk before a reformat.
