reboot to print

We can only print by re-booting. We have a new and a newly bought, used printer - neither came with drivers to install. The new one worked for 30 days then the problem. The new, used one also works great..except have to re-boot.

Both (not simultaneously) are used on a network (2 PC's). Can't print without booting from either PC. Both PC's can print upon re-booting the primary PC.

Also, we had the same problem with a new printer cable. Returned it.

We did numerous virus checks - nothing found.

Primary PC runs win ME.

What printers are they? I find it hard to believe that a new printer didn't have an install CD with it. A used one yes. But you should be able to go to the manufacturers site and download the latest printer drivers for free.

Thanx but obviously the driver issue does not apply.

Well if you can't print without rebooting then the driver issue does apply.

But you still haven't said what printers you are using. If you want help (which is, I assume why you have posted here) then we need to know as much information as possible.

No driver was installed for the new ptr - lexmark E238 and it worked for a month. The used ptr is HP laserjet 5/5M. XP comes with drivers for this machine.

Recently been told a problem with a win XP patch might be happening...

Well the drivers for the Lexmark E238 are available here: click here=:::::

Why not try downloading and installing them.

And here for the HP printer. click here

Drivers didn't help.
