reboot due to faulty device driver, how to isolate

  tinny76 20:12 15 Dec 2005

hi can anyone help.

i am running xp, and pc periocdically reboots, no warning or anything just a s if the reset button had been pressed. windows does the error reporting thing and windows online support advises that this is due to faulty device driver, although everything in device manager is ok. i was thinking of setting up a log in peformance logs and alerts to pinpoint this problem. what logs and alerts should i add to narrow this down or does anyone have any other suggestions.

thanks in advance

You can check the Event viewer, a service on windows that logs every application, system errors etc. To reach this, go to your control panel> administrative tools > and open event viewer look under the "System" and it should show an error marked with a Red X , and that is most probably why your computer rebooted by itself.
