My lad has asked about this as it has a free service for downloading. Are there any dangers to this and do I need to make our files available to others as several filesharing systems require(eg Kazaa)

With Rapidshare (and other such sites) you Download/Upload directly to the site's servers, so you don't have to share any files on your PC. But I would imagine that lot of Rapidshare's material consists of pirated programs, movies etc etc. Say no more! Also, as in any such downloded material, viruses and Trojans can be included!

Nothing wrong with Rapidshare so long as you know the original source of the file, ie the uploader of it. If they are in rar or zip format then virus check them when downloaded to be sure it's safe to open.
