and run their online scanner. it will tell you exactly what type of memory you need and the maximum quantity. They are also resonably priced with super fast delivery.

Thanks Raven found it, on the site it tells me that the "sticks" i have should work but when swopped the 2*512 for 2* 1gbpc 2700 333mhz ddr dimm the computer would not run windows even in safe mode so are the sticks faulty or are they the wrong ones?

did you buy the memory from Crucial? If so, give them a call.

If the sticks you have were not bought from Crucial then they are probably the wrong memory, might be the right type and speed but could be the wrong parity etc.

Keef66 no i did not buy from Crucial but what i dont understand is why the computer will not load windows even in safe mode or any other mode.

Have you tried putting the old memory back in and starting up your computer?

"Keef66 no i did not buy from Crucial but what i dont understand is why the computer will not load windows even in safe mode or any other mode".
The simple answer is its the wrong memory

E-machines can be difficult to match up,hence i used orca in my laptop,100% guarenteed to work/tested etc
